Wait until you can afford at least 3200mhz. The price change isn't huge, but financially it's not worth it. Don't purchase something that will be tough to sell later because nobody wants it. It's a risky move. Even if I'm obsessed, it wouldn't be a good idea.

You might consider lowering latency a bit (CL-xx) but most budget options can't sustain their full performance levels consistently. It's worth giving it a shot. The performance loss is unavoidable, though. You could aim to cut it slightly. Probably not worth the effort.
