Good morning everyone! After playing Overwatch, I checked HWMONITOR and saw the processor reaching its maximum at 5.6GHz. I've noticed it often hits just over 5GHz before dropping back down. When the computer starts up in the first turn, it doesn't fall to 2.2GHz as it used to. Normally it stays between 3.8 and 4.2GHz during idle. Since I recently installed a fresh Windows version (after a SSD failure), the BIOS is current, running v.5220 on an x470-f Strix board with RAM at 3200MHz. The chipset drivers were added directly from AMD. Anyone have suggestions?

HWmonitor doesn't function properly on Ryzen systems. Consider using Ryzen Master or HWinfo instead.

I understand the input well. Here’s a revised version:

Thank you for the feedback. To clarify, when I check Task Manager and compare with hwmonitor, excluding the 5.6 spike, the CPU remains between 3.8 and 4.2 GHz with under 10% usage. Previously, it dropped to 2.2 at similar load, but I’m unsure why it keeps staying at maximum boost.

Task manager likely showing the top clock speed among the most active cores. Ryzen Master works well for tracking CPU performance. It may handle one core managing background tasks effectively. While Ryzen feels different from the Intel CPUs I used before, it’s functional. A recent Windows update can occasionally cause unusual behavior.

I also tried jumping into the CLRTC terminal, reset the memory profile to 3200, and set the Ryzen to default settings. It’s still running around 4.0GHz with all cores active.
