2.5 gigabits per second home network devices
Hey everyone. I initially checked the forums but most discussions were about bigger networks. Here’s my setup: My ISP offers 600mbps. A rival company is rolling out fiber nearby and provides a 2Gbps service for a fraction of what I’m paying now. While I’d love to move up to 2Gbps, I suspect my wireless router might be limiting things. My motherboard is an MSI MEG x570 ACE with 2.5GBps LAN ports that also power the modem. The router I use is a Netgear Nighthawk X10, which seems to only support 1Gbps on the WAN/LAN port (though I can’t confirm the specs). After some research, I found a few home routers with 2.5Gbps ports for WAN and LAN. Could anyone recommend a suitable model? As long as there’s an option to switch between those ports, it should work fine for my PC getting the higher speeds while others use the slower ones. WiFi should be fine for smart devices. If you have a simpler, cheaper solution in mind, let me know! Thanks in advance!
