24GB system with 16GB available in Windows 10
I upgraded my overhall ram on a GA970 Gaming Mobo and installed 8GB of RAM, which should be around 24GB according to BIOS, Windows 10, and the graphics card. Everything seems to show 24GB, but I'm not sure why it doesn't match up. Even after memory reseats, the issue persists. Any suggestions besides reinstalling the OS would help? Thanks.
I haven't found an integrated GPU yet, and I'm not sure if the system is 64-bit.
Find the solution online for your hardware reservation issue.
Try a USB live USB with your preferred Linux distribution. Observe whether all RAM is detected properly. If not, I'll guide you through checking BIOS settings for hardware reservations and suggest re-seating the CPU, including inspecting the pins for any damage.
Thank you for the advice. All suggestions were useful. I completed the memory test and succeeded. Before sharing on the forum, I performed a BIOS flash and reset its settings. Then I checked msconfig to see if advanced settings were enabled; the default was set to max memory unchecked. I also tried running a live Linux environment to verify memory usage. If you have any fixes for 8GB reserves, feel free to share them here.
