He owns a PC with a 2200g and GTX 1050 Ti. At $60 I discovered a 2400g on Craigslist. Should I upgrade for him? He plays light games (mainly original Code 4 and a few others). I just need something reliable for the long term.
That's what I meant. Whether it's worth it comes down to whether he's happy with the current performance. If it's just light gaming, 2200g will be more than sufficient.
Buy a used RX 570 or RX 580 for around 80-110$ and take the GTX 1050 ti back from him and sell it... you'll easily sell the 1050ti for around 40-50$, so if you get a rx580 for 100$ you'll be out the pocket around 50$. You can buy a RX 570 new for around 120-140$. The CPU is powerful enough for all the games he apparently plays, a better video card will give him much more fps and image quality. here's rx 570 and rx 580 compared to other models :
You could potentially switch to a Ryzen 3000 series processor for the same cost within a few months, and even better options are available now to achieve similar results at comparable prices.
400 watt power supply unit. He’s really limited by a 1050ti model.
