someone else is facing issues with Google Chrome on their Mac. It leads to the machine slowing down quickly until it stops working. Specific details: CPU 3.3GHz i3 with Intel HD graphics, 512MB VRAM, integrated RAM 2GB at 1600MHz, 500GB HDD, 60Hz display at 1920x1080, OSX version 10.8.5(12F2560).

You're not experiencing issues with Chrome, but keep an eye on memory consumption since you have only 4GB. This shouldn't lead to the problems you're seeing, but we can begin there.

Check EtreCheck for any hardware problems. Link provided. Ensure you have a solid system backup. Remember past issues with Chrome on 10.8.5; if your drive or RAM isn’t the issue, consider updating to a newer MacOS version—though Mojave isn’t fully stable yet. Chrome may still run on Mountain Lion but likely isn’t reliable now. For App Store downloads, use the High Sierra option instead of just Mojave.
