Recalling a past internship, they gave me an old laptop. We were using Dell docking stations, and they asked me to test a new one. The wrong power supply caused the battery to die and also damaged the CPU. It produced the same issues—slow mouse, all those annoying problems. If I were to say random things, I’d just think, “It’s Apple. Fuck you, throw it away.” I’m sharing my thoughts, not claiming they’re true. It was strange, but maybe there’s more to it than I think.

I previously owned an 08 MacBook with an SSD, and there were no problems.

Yes, 2011 was the correct time: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/1406...Connector). It appears to be a unique cable with the sensor that OWC offered, or you might be able to modify it by reusing parts from an HDD. This could predate when the sensor was introduced.

It seems this setup is for an Imac. The original model didn't include a thermal sensor on the included drive.

I performed an SMC reset (instead of just pressing keys, I held them for roughly 15 seconds). The device is definitely operating faster now. CPU consumption dropped significantly, and the kernel task is using only about 30% of its capacity—much more efficient. I’m feeling confident, but I’ll check back if anything arises unexpectedly.

It didn’t last long. Kernal_task is still running at over 100% CPU usage, though the fans aren’t spinning and the system isn’t overheating. I ran a hardware test and everything looked fine, but I’m planning an extended check. Anyone know what’s going on?

The CPU isn’t starting, so you should verify its clock speed and temperature. It’s possible the fan isn’t working properly.

No, I did not reset both the NVRAM and SMC.

CPU is working well, around 30-50°C while performing basic tasks. Used the Mac fan control to check the fans; they performed nicely. Fans didn’t run together but were reset individually at least twice.
