2 TB of hard drive storage has completely disappeared.
Hi everyone, thank you for your time. I purchased a 500GB M.2 drive and initialized it. While checking my new fast SSD, I noticed something missing—what looks like (Image 1). The Disk Management shows multiple options, but the only choice is to select properties, which is what Image 3 displays. Losing 2TB of data suddenly is a big concern. Any assistance would be really appreciated! Feel free to ask for more details if needed.
It seems the M.2 slot often connects to the internal SATA port, which might explain why your HDD isn't detected as the M.2 port is disabled.
Consider checking other potential sources or methods beyond the BIOS.
It wouldn't work unless you manually changed the port on the motherboard that the SSD uses.
The M.2 slot you used for the SSD overlaps with some SATA ports, so the SATA drive isn’t visible. Is the absent device a SATA unit? Which motherboard do you own? Your guide should clarify whether any PCIe lanes are shared.
I changed it to the SATA lane where all the other drives are, and it just appeared! The hard drive is indeed a SATA model.
