A quad-core processor will clearly outperform a single-core one, and even now it's starting to fall behind hex-core solutions with HT.

You seem confused about whether it's a 2-core/4-core or 4-core/8-core CPU. Core2Duo doesn't support HyperThreading, and it's unlikely you'd find a Xeon model that matches your description. Please clarify your requirements so I can assist better.

It avoids the drawbacks of slower performance and forces programs to adapt differently to share resources evenly. Even then, features like cache or other capabilities don’t integrate as smoothly as they do in a single CPU.
