1usmus ClockTuner designed for Ryzen processors
Who will try this when it drops later today? I’m set for 5pm UK, noon Eastern US, and 9am Pacific—though I haven’t messed with my time zones. I’m still doubtful about its capabilities since Linus promoted it in the video below. Still, I’ll give it a shot. I might not grasp what it does, but the possible performance boost is appealing. Stability will be my main focus. Testing won’t start until tomorrow.
Doesn't work with the processors you own, which means it won't be possible to test this. Because the app targets only a specific generation of Ryzen chips, it doesn't seem very promising right now. I'm hoping it will function well for users with supported chips and provides extra performance beyond just the Ryzen CPU power using existing software and BIOS overclocking.
The 2700x flagship chip cost $350. It was about 10% slower compared to a similar Zen 2 model at launch. Still, it offered solid value for its time—especially if you bought it back then.
I'll give it a shot and think this tool will be quite impressive. According to CCX, it will be handy, and PBO will handle a lot of power through the chip!
My worry is about how AMD handles voltage on chips. They aim for stability across all tasks, but lowering it might cause issues in certain scenarios. Unless they’re taking too much effort, there could be room to optimize further.
I missed the chance to buy the $159 Ryzen 7 2700 when it was still available
Just applied CTR and adjusted the profile—currently at 4.3GHz with all cores at 1.29V. Planning to boost the stronger CCX (CCX 1) later.
