19-10900K heat
I recently upgraded my PC with a heavy-duty configuration. I invested in an I9-10900k and an MSI 3060 Ti, and after some troubleshooting everything functioned properly. My main worry is that my I9 temperatures will rise to around 70°C or higher during intense gaming sessions like Control Ultimate Edition. I’m using a MasterMaster Air Ma620M dual tower in a Corsair iQ 4000x case. I haven’t installed any fans yet, though I realize I should add more for better cooling. I’m expecting around 75°C initially, which might drop once I install the right fans, but it’s unusual to see such high temps even at low usage (around 15-25%). I applied a small amount of thermal paste from my old Noctua NH-D15 and hope it helps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
75°C is acceptable, even during light gaming. The chips are heating up more. They include built-in thermal limits, so performance will rise as high as possible within safe boundaries. Adding more case fans can provide some extra cooling. Your CPU cooler should handle the 10900K temperature. For slightly improved results, consider replacing the old NT-H1 with the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut from Noctua NH-D15. Hope that helps! PFP.
I’ve never had a chip like this before. I’ve always gone with the hammy downs or the older model. That’s why I finally chose something better.
I'm a bit worried about accidentally harming my PC. I've never used such a powerful CPU before, and most sources suggest it's riskier than damaging a GPU. I'm hoping for some advice from someone more experienced. Thanks for the tip—I'll try Aida64 to check how it performs.
If you aren't overclocking then it's pretty hard to hurt your cpu. Even if it gets too hot your system will automatically shut itself down to prevent damage. I have had that happen and the cpu was fine after and I just had to do some adjustments (apparently I had one of my fans that was supposed to be exhaust as intake instead) my cpu cooler and case fan were blowing into each other resulting in trapped heat. Also another thing to keep in mind is that cpus that a aren't overclocked will down clock your cpu when temps get too high so it should keep its temps in check normally.
