Hey guys, wanted to share something whats been very popular among russian, ukrainian and eastern european builds. I myself built atleast 6 pc on x99 platform with xeon cpu's which are dirt cheap. There is channel called Miyconst its ukrainian youtuber who reviewed almost every chinese x99 motherboard, created software for file compilation need for Turbo boost unlock mod. In other words you can force single core boost clocks on everycore, practically making it overclocked. I had 2620v3 6 core 12 threads cpu for 15$ after mod it can do 3.2ghz all core, alsto has 2630v3 8 core 16 threads 20eur also 3.2ghz, e5 2678v3 12 core 24 threads 3.3ghz 110$ two years ago, now it's cheaper, build pc for my friend two years ago, no problem so far. And finally just for fun i ordered and recently got 18 core 36 threads monster on x99 platform. 2696v3 isn't official intel cpu, atleast it's not on their website, however Its same 2699v3 but with DDR3 and DDR4 support + single core is 200mhz faster, instead of 3.6ghz it's 3.8ghz. However while gaming it's recommended to lock cpu to 12 cores and idealy turn off HT, cpu has 145w tdp and ofc it will hit it with 18 cores 36 threads and at that package while gaming it's only 3.3ghz on all core or cores which are used. Locking it to 12 cores, frequancy stays at 3.7-3.8ghz on all cores. Performance of cheap 4th xeon's are around zen 2 cpu's while being much cheaper. Ofc i don't have branded motherboard, got trusted Huanan x99-BD4 with active vrm cooling for 107eur. It's funny, now when there is lack of x99 chipsets, chinese use H81,B85 and some server C201~(NOT SURE) chipsets, which are haswell generation, in my case board i got has B85 and works no problem with 18 core xeon. Thoughts ?
