Hey everyone! Looking for quality RGB RAM from GSKill. So far I’ve checked:
- MindFactory Trident-Z RGB DDR4 16GB
- MindFactory Trident-Z RGB DDR4 32GB
Any other recommendations? Appreciate the help!

I was just going through a discussion that suggested for Ryzen overclocking, you should look for RAM with “Samsung B Die” markings. That’s not the manufacturer of the RAM, but rather the type of chip inside. It seems that if the 14CL module includes this feature, you might be able to push it up to around CL16 at 3600 MHz. I’m not entirely confident about that. The main point is that memory speeds vary—14 and 16 aren’t fixed numbers; they’re represented by specific codes like 14-xx-xx-xx or 16-xx-xx-xx, and the exact configuration matters.

most trident z models use b die, though not every one does. It’s hard to pin down the exact numbers, but the cl14 kit is likely b die while the cl16 kit isn’t. For a 32gb build, go with that option—it’s more affordable. If you’re focused on maximizing performance, the 16gb kit is better since you can tweak timings and push it to 3600mhz.

What is your scenario? For gaming purposes only, choose the 16GB option.

16gb should suffice most of the time, but I left Chrome running overnight and it consumed around 9gb by morning. Some games actually deliver higher frame rates when you're using less than half of your RAM—like BFV and Modern Warfare. If you really optimize the settings on the CL14 kit, you can likely compensate for that difference. For long-term use beyond three years, 32gb seems reasonable, and there are also CL14-compatible 32gb options available.

Gaming, numerous tabs in Firefox, occasional Photoshop and CAD tasks. Naturally, I intend to continue using it for another three years.

Choose one option since none of these programs require significant RAM bandwidth for the CL latency to create a noticeable impact.
