I was thinking about whether 32 GB would be a better choice over 16 GB. Right now I’m using a dual monitor setup at 240 fps 1080p, and I expect to upgrade to 1440p in a few years after college, mainly for playing AAA games. I’ve been using about 12 different browsers, apps, Spotify, Discord, and Steam.
I also just installed a new PC and chose 32GB. From what I understand, 16GB should be enough for most tasks right now, but I’m aware that newer flight simulators require more RAM and I’m confident more games will follow suit. That’s why I went with 32GB—it’s a bit safer for the future and avoids the need to upgrade later.
I play games, edit videos, record, and explore the web with several tabs open at once—though not all simultaneously. Having 16GB of RAM works fine, but it really depends on your future needs.
Wendel suggested 2x16Gb could be ideal. I'm still unsure; it would help to grasp the details more clearly before deciding.
The best configuration is 4x8 for improved speed and to reduce the need to pause Chrome periodically. I run at 16 atmospheres and always close Chrome before starting some demanding AAA titles. It's a small issue but keeps happening. I won't try another build with 16GB of RAM. Still, 16GB works if you can manage it.
