14900k versus 7800X3D – which is better depends on your needs.
Based on what I've observed, the worst outcome often involves a game running on non-3D cached cores and then experiencing poor 7950X performance... This suggests the AM5 chip doesn't perform well with 4 RAM sticks, especially with the 7950X3D configuration.
This varies based on the 3D modeling tool you're employing. Blender and Maya require significant GPU power, whereas 2D applications such as AutoCAD or CPU-heavy 3D programs like TinkerCAD, SketchUp, Fusion 360, and SolidWorks demand more processing from the central processor.
You should be okay with either CPU. I recently purchased the 7800x3D and am running Inventor, which is another Parasolid application that values high IPC. I also experiment with video editing using premier, but right now I'm leveraging CUDA cores on the RTX 4080 for rendering.
14900k will rise significantly above that point, cutting the time in half. Reading the rest of your 7800X3D post will be most effective if you're primarily focused on gaming. The 14700k is roughly comparable in price to the 7800X3D and performs similarly in games where extra cache isn't heavily preferred, delivering better results in Blender.
For a balanced experience, the 14700k performs well across the board, with 7800X3D consistently outperforming in most matches—just a few exceptions where Intel's higher clocks shine. Which games do you typically play?
Minecraft, Hogwarts Legacy, CS2 and I can't but in my new system I will play forza and maybe I will try Halo Infinite. What about the upgrade path?
