13600K vs 13700K
I frequently find great discounts on computer components at microcenter, but unfortunately there isn't one close by.
You're comfortable with either AMD or Intel options. A reliable 5800X3D is a solid choice even with AM5 and 13th Gen processors, maintaining good performance. It doesn't support upgrades, but if you've kept your 6700K for quite some time, you should be able to extend its lifespan beyond any 13th Gen or AM5 upgrade path. As someone familiar with both Intel and AMD, I'd lean slightly toward Intel for reliability, though my 7700X has performed well enough to stand by it. Don't let others' opinions distract you—stick to the facts. Check other discussions for more insights if needed.
Eventually you have to set boundaries. With the rapidly advancing 7000 series and still shaky bios updates that keep breaking xmp/expo (even brand new patches), it’s enough to simply skip the Ryzen 7000, no matter any advantages it might offer over the 13th gen. My point was that people are acting like AM5 is stable enough to just suggest going with whatever they choose, which I see as completely unreliable advice. Now more than ever, new builders must do their own research before making a decision.
Thanks, I'm considering both Intel and AMD options. Neither fully satisfies my needs, and I've noticed more problems with AM5 currently (my research confirms it), though some users report few issues. The 7800X3D is regarded as the top choice for gaming at the moment. Intel consumes more power but offers better stability, especially for gaming. I'm unsure about my final decision yet, but if I stick with my previous approach, a solid Intel processor like the i7-13700K would be ideal for longevity. It seems logical to upgrade from the 13600K to the 13700K if possible. The 7800X3D's gaming performance is appealing, as are AMD's upgrade options; I'm not sure how I'd feel about going with AM4, but the 5800X3D is also a strong contender. I mostly gather opinions and seek insights from experienced users before investing, as I invest significant time in research and spend money. I tend to ignore comments that seem rushed or unhelpful, but I value thoughtful responses.
