Hello, welcome to the community. I’m facing some issues with my newly built PC. It’s an aircooled 12900K, and I’ve been getting CPU overheating warnings each time I turn it on. I checked the Core Temp app and saw that temperatures for Core 0-7 are normal, but Core 8-15 are extremely high. I’m wondering if others have similar experiences or know how to resolve this. All components seem correctly installed since I reassembled the system due to these problems. I’ve attached a screenshot of the Core Temp readings below; the numbers are shown in different colors. Thank you!

It seems you might be experiencing a mounting pressure concern, which is typical for these CPUs. You can remove the cooler and check if the pressure on one side of the middle IHS is decreasing.

Check out the discussions! Are you using an air cooler with your processor? You might need a contact frame to swap out the retention bracket on the motherboard, since it could be putting uneven pressure on the CPU and affecting its contact with the cooler.

It seems the concern isn't about the brackets themselves, as the reviews indicate a minor temperature drop. The significant variation points to a more substantial issue with installation.

I didn’t need to reference @Shimejii either. Just let me know if you want a suggestion for an air cooler.

Temperatures need to drop, so a Dark Rock Pro 4 would help. It's best to reinstall the cooler and apply fresh thermal paste.

If the mounting problem persists, purchase a $10 bracket from Thermalright for a remount.

Thanks for the details! I'm placing an order for new thermal paste and will start rebuilding as soon as it arrives.
