Hello everyone, welcome back and welcome again! I recently upgraded to a 12900K and paired it with a Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 motherboard. I kept my previous RAM, G.SKILL TridentZ for the Z370/X299 chipset (I just noticed that was the right one). My problem is that I can only run my RAM at 2133MHz, and whenever I enable XMP at 3600MHz or 3200MHz, I get a black screen. After resetting the BIOS, everything seems stable but the RAM still runs at 2133MHz. I’m asking: am I really stuck with this setup? Should I consider replacing the RAM? It would be better since I spent a lot on the new CPU. How much performance am I missing out with the current RAM speed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! - Jarron UPDATE: Managed to get it working at 3000MHz. My RAM isn’t listed in the motherboard’s memory support, but it’s still stable and functioning.

64GB exceeds the memory controller capacity. Turn on XMP, adjust DRAM settings to 3200, and see if it boots. Try again.

There are growing concerns about the Gigabyte Z690 with DDR4. Many people are noticing problems, and it seems others are experiencing similar issues. Fingers crossed for a quick resolution soon.

Installed RAM at 3000MHz successfully. The motherboard doesn't show this type in its memory support list, but it's functioning properly.

The latest update was released two days ago (version F6a), which aims to resolve the XMP problems. Using this might let you run it at full memory speeds.
