Hey everyone, I'm planning to upgrade my CPU soon. I'm considering either a used 12900k (under 340€) or a new 13700k (~415€). From my research, the 13700k seems marginally faster, though they're quite similar overall. Could there be something I'm missing? Also, which option is easier to cool—currently using an NH-D15 or another setup? Thanks ahead!

The 12600kf is acceptable, I'll keep your money.

I'm committed to using it fully for heavy tasks like file compression/decompression and Blender work. The extra cores really help a lot. If I ever sell my current CPU, it won't be worth much money.

It depends on whether you're comfortable with the high-power i9 processor and its demanding cooling requirements.

A 13700K offers improved performance, though horsepower remains unchanged. Alternatively, a 13700 non-K could cost around $350.

Alright, I'll accept 13700k. (In my country this isn't even a 20€ difference, so it doesn't seem like a big deal.)

Thanks, likely to choose the 13700k option.

That's the plan I'd take... have fun with your new CPU!

It varies; if you're focused on productivity, the 13700k is ideal. For gaming and a bit of work, the 13600k works well. The AMD 7900 non X is a solid choice for both productivity and gaming, especially with AM5 support, while the Ryzen 7000 offers good value for its price.

I considered it too, but because I already own a M-board with DDR4 RAM for my Intel CPUs, switching to an AM5 chip would be quite costly.
