Hello friends. Here’s a quick summary. You have an RTX 3070 Ti with a 12600k and are considering upgrading your RAM. You’re weighing between 16GB at 3600MHz and 32GB at 3200MHz, both CL16. If you’re focused on gaming, XMP support is important. The 32GB at 3200MHz will likely offer better performance and future-proofing, even if it costs a bit more. Stick with the 16GB if you’re just starting out or need flexibility.

I’d choose the 32GB setup since 16GB feels too limited these days. Giving up some CPU performance in games that are CPU-heavy would be a small trade-off for the extra memory, especially when the system is already handling high frame rates. It really comes down to your usage and whether you need more than 16GB.

I intend to play games and chat on Discord. That’s all. Returning the last set is simple as an Amazon user. I’m only looking for the top pick. Cheers.

Currently 16GB should suffice, though I can't predict how long it will last or whether modded games will affect performance.

I picked the 32GB model because it lets me run Discord alongside some background processes without hurting gaming speed. It’s a smarter pick overall. Since I’m shopping on Amazon, getting a refund for my old setup was super easy. Appreciate your guidance! In 2024 I plan to fully embrace DDR5 and see how things unfold.

The gap in speed is minimal, so a light overclock could raise the frequency from 3200 to 3600 without affecting timing or voltage settings.

You're looking for a 32GB 3600-4000 CL16 RAM package with low latency and fast performance. It's important to invest in quality, though the price will vary based on your budget.

32 works fine, though discord can be stressful. It uses minimal resources. When playing, windows will manage background tasks more efficiently since they’re not always needed. Also, the ~7.5GB usage that looks normal isn’t much—mostly windows is storing temporary files because your RAM is free. You’ll still have plenty of space for the game once you launch it. If you aim for DDR5 in 2024, consider sticking with 16GB until then, as others suggested it’s acceptable for gaming in 2022.
