I just upgraded my motherboard, CPU, and RAM. I'm using an ASUS ROG Strix B650A, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and 32GB CL36 6000 MHz RAM from Corsair. The motherboard has both an 8-pin and a 4-pin connector for the CPU. Do I need the extra 4-pin connector? Will it work fine without it? I'm unsure if I should overclock or just aim for a max of 5 GHz.

You don't require the additional 4-pin connector. Even when using LN2 with a 7950X, this extra pin isn't essential—it's mainly for marketing rather than practical use.

You might still be able to boost your 7800X3D to a steady 5GHz. It’s not as straightforward as with Intel, but you can adjust BIOS settings and tweak voltage or core settings to help achieve better performance.
