11th gen processor with B560 chipset supports 3200MHz memory at native speed or through overclocking.
Reviewing the B560 specifications, I observed that mid-range models support 2933MHz natively with the 11th gen, while higher-end ones go up to 3200MHz. Even if max support is 2933MHz, they can still reach 4800MHz (like ASRock B560 Pro4). Are you asking if it's the same to get a chip with 3200MHz support versus one that supports up to 3200MHz? Cheers
Support for 3200MHz out of the box is confirmed at the 11th generation. Seems like a bit of jargon. On Z590 it does work at 3200MHz without OC on the 11th gen. For the 10th gen, the max is 2933 without OC. Edit: Hmm. Looks like a genuine intel feature. Seems consistent with other brands like ASUS—only Z590 natively supports 3200MHz. Of course, XMP works on B560 as well.
the cpu's memory controller operates at 3200mhz, though this varies by chipset. An older chipset might not support that speed initially, but on the z490 it won't be noticeable, and b560 should handle it well. It's unlikely to cause harm even after memory overclocking, and you probably won't notice any issues.
