You're considering a quick PC build soon. The new Intel 11th gen chips are coming out soon, offering better performance at a lower price compared to older models. For your needs—editing videos and streaming—Intel's extra cores and threads could be beneficial. Based on that, the $539 5600x and $489 11700k options seem solid choices.

The 11,700K seems straightforward. Saving the 10,700K could add value too. Be aware that motherboards might cost a bit more.

I haven't built an Intel chip before, so I don't know which chipset to choose. Could you clarify your system specs or intended use?

Z590? Sounds possible, though it might depend on the BIOS version. You’d need to check if the Z490 supports it before proceeding.

Unclear why you notice improved results or reduced cost. The 11700K previously outperformed the prior generation in games, yet it's pricier, especially with AMD already leading in performance.

In Australia the 11700k costs $489 and the 5600x is $539. When checking gaming benchmarks, Intel usually leads by roughly 10 frames per second.

noted the motherboard pricing variations (especially for Intel Z boards) and the power consumption of the 11700K, which could generate over 250 watts—resulting in increased noise and heat.

Most trusted opinions indicate the 11700k performs best in games but struggles with productivity—especially at lower resolutions or detail levels. This suggests it doesn’t shine enough for those needs, making the more affordable option preferable.

You're noticing a strong performance with the 5600X. The $489 price point seems to come from a different market or currency conversion. In the U.S., similar models are often listed near $419 or about $550 AUD.
