You're facing some tricky issues with your TP-Link TX401 network card. It seems the connection is unstable when plugging in the 7900XT, especially in the top slot. After updating the BIOS to version F33, you're still unsure about the necessary steps. Someone might have a better idea or guide on how to resolve this. Thanks for your help!

I've spent hours trying this. The card initially appeared in Task Manager, and I managed to install the drivers. However, it only worked when installed in the top PCIe slot on my motherboard. After moving it to the second slot and using a PCIe riser for my 7900XT, the TX401 would appear and disappear. Even simple tasks like watching a YouTube video caused it to vanish from Task Manager, making Windows seem like the network connection had vanished. If I tried any real load, it would completely disappear. Eventually, after some time, the network card returned and Windows reconnected to it. What frustrates me is that after removing my GPU and installing the card in the top slot, I got full 10G speeds through my TRENDnet 6-Port 10G Switch. I'm using the same model on my TruesNAS server without any issues. This is my third card from Amazon I've tried to fix this problem.

I’m going to make a wild assumption about PCIe power problems. Since power for PCIe slots is shared, if the 7900xt is very demanding and the motherboard struggles with PCIe power needs, it could cause overloads and result in drops.

I agree you're right about the TX401 being an older and more sensitive card. We no longer use them in our custom-built workstations. What other PCIe devices do you have, including M.2 options? If it doesn<|pad|>, it just doesn't function properly.

It seems to be a standard Aquantia AQC107 chipset built on a 10G card. It uses PCI-E 3.0, so it won<|pad|>'s limitations of PCI-E 4.0 or 5.0 slots. The motherboard info indicates the top x16 slot is PCI-E 4.0 with four lanes, while the bottom x16 slot is PCI-E 3.0 with two lanes. Trying to fit it in the lower slot should work since the card supports up to 985 MB/s per lane, and two lanes would comfortably handle 10 Gbps. In real life you'll get about 850-900 MB/s, which is more than enough. Just ensure the card stays cool—check for airflow over its heatsink. There are reports of Aquantia cards experiencing issues, so overheating or driver problems could be factors.

The motherboard should include an on-board lane without requiring a network card in a PCIe slot.

I really thought I understood the issue, but it seems my PCIe slot might be damaged. After trying the 10G card in the lower port, I got full speeds. Thanks for your feedback and support!
