Purchased the gigabyte LAN card and will check its functionality. Update this note regarding compatibility problems. Thanks for the details—package should arrive by Wednesday at the earliest.

It uses the AQC113C design, so I’m really hoping it won’t face the same issues as the AQC107.

Would you like me to clarify the issues so you understand what to watch for?

I use this NIC myself to achieve 10GB on my system. https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/PCIE10GB/#specs My X1 slot is not open-ended on the board, so I can still use it as a PCIe 4.0x1 even though it's a wired card with full bandwidth. Since the board lacks an open-ended X1 slot, you'd have to move it to the bottom X4 slot or alter an existing X1 slot to make it work.

Steam downloading quickly causes the entire network system to fail, including the on-board LAN, until a restart occurs. Many theories suggested the chip overheating was the cause, but that’s not the case for me—I’ve successfully run the same card on my Linux server nonstop with no problems.

Connecting anything to Slot 3, PCIEx16_2 causes your GPU in Slot 1 to operate at x8 because of lane splitting. Plugging it into Slot 5, x16_3 allows it to run through the chipset, which should provide sufficient bandwidth for full support.

Thanks for the info! I'll do the testing on Wednesday and adjust if I hit any snags or need tweaks. Appreciate all the helpful details—this was a bit unexpected, but thanks for the clarity.

That's regrettable, I assume the distinction lies in how slot 3 connects to the chipset.
