The main reason big boi switches aren't widely available online is that most are sold through partners who buy them directly from the manufacturer. Consider contacting a local IT consultancy to get a quote for your business.

They upgraded to 25G fiber and 40G bachkaul AFAIK, but the 10G copper setup is costly.

Unless you check eBay or something similar, you won't see them marked as "on sale." With the ongoing component shortages that last into 2023 or beyond, everyone is out of stock, and delivery times are extremely long based on your requirements.

I might get reminded each day about a backorder still in progress, ending in late 2023 for a crucial firewall a client urgently requires... not ideal timing for network upgrades...

What's your budget? Here are some refurbished choices: A 40 x 10G RJ45 + 8 x 10G SFP+ Quanta T3040 costs $1500. The Quanta T3040-LY3 40 Port Network switch with 48x10G RJ45 and 4x40G QSFP DELL FORCE 10 is available for $1785. Alternatively, you can purchase a 32 x QSFP+ (40G, each split into 4x10G) for $1679, or an Arista DCS-7050QX-32S-R Network Switch for $1050, along with 48 x 10G SFP+ and 4 x QSFP+ from Juniper.

You’re considering several choices within a budget of 3000 to 4000. I’ll start exploring those options. Since you’re based in Europe, I’ll focus on relevant models. I’ll begin researching them now.
