10900k achieves a 1.48V core voltage on stock BIOS
Hey everyone, the voltage core is hitting around 1.48V on the stock BIOS for the ASUS Z490-A Strix. It does reach that level during Cinebench single-core tests and stays steady at 1.46-1.48V once the CPU hits 5.2/5.3GHz. In BIOS, it updates to the latest version and runs normally except when XMP is enabled at 3600MHz RAM. MCE is set to turn on by default. If you disable it, the core voltage drops to about 1.29V but the CPU doesn’t exceed 4900MHz. It seems normal for this setup. Should I keep MCE on or off for long-term use? Temperatures are within range. ~70°C max.
Your CPU voltage range is quite high. The typical daily drive voltage recommendation is between 1.35 to 1.38V.
SP refers to the system's performance metrics. Recently I noticed it remained active even after I disabled it, which is unusual. After resetting the BIOS and enabling only XMP, it now operates smoothly at 4.9 GHz across all cores with a maximum of 1.34 Vcore. Benchmarks show most runs stayed near 1.29 Vcore, while single-core tests consistently hit around 4.9 GHz, occasionally reaching 5.3 GHz on certain cores briefly. Voltage levels hover around 1.30–1.34. I’ll run one final test with MCE off to check the impact of that setting.
