Hey there. I'm setting up a gaming PC mainly for video editing. I want to make sure I'm getting the right RAM speed for this CPU. Is it the maximum possible? How do I pick the best RAM for it? Also, any tips for building the system? Appreciate it!

The standard clock speed is listed for this chip. You can upgrade the RAM on boards such as Z590 and B560, though availability varies by model. As long as you’re not running a K SKU CPU, a B560 board works best.

You're asking if using 3600MHz means you can only utilize part of it, unless you overclock. Are you looking for advice on how to work with that frequency?

It will revert to standard speeds unless you activate XMP in BIOS, which isn’t complicated or risky. The most likely outcome is your PC shutting off briefly and then restarting a few times before settling back to normal speeds while keeping XMP profiles active for overclocking.

I used to do it on my old 4790k setup, but discovered the RAM wasn't compatible with the CPU's memory size, which meant I had to try overclocking. XD Thanks

Accept with understanding, though it’s worth noting that a 10th generation chip paired with a 500 series motherboard often makes the top M.2 port inaccessible. Verify the board supports sufficient ports otherwise.

With a solid enough motherboard, you'll typically find at least two M.2 ports. You also usually retain most SATA connections. Remember this when planning. For almost all uses, the gap between NVMe and SATA is negligible.
