Someone predicted Zen 3 would be ready by July, so I was eager to get my new build. Now I'm diving deeper into the process like Christmas. It's time to refresh my rig. I've been using Intel for more than ten years because of past problems with AMD in the K6-2 and Athlon lines. My current setup is mainly for games such as World of Warcraft, and I'm excited about Cyberpunk. For my next build, I'm targeting a processor between 2010KF and 3600X, possibly moving to a 2070 or higher model depending on the upcoming 3000 series. I've heard AMD is great for gaming now, though compatibility can still be an issue in some cases. I also need plenty of USB ports, which is something I often lack.
Comparing CPU expenses isn't completely accurate, as the overall system cost for LGA 1200 is much higher.
Currently my budget is around 150 ish for the motherboard. I’ve selected two Z490 boards—one from GIGABYTE and another from an unknown brand—as potential options. The price for G550 boards hasn’t been seen yet, but I’m hoping for a similar deal on the components I need.
Cyberpunk will likely need a powerful eight-core setup instead of a six or twelve-core configuration. AMD is now launching 8 and 16-core APUs, and since consoles are expected to match that performance, using a six or twelve core might cause issues with upcoming high-end games.
Ideally yes, but I prefer not to worry about next year. Most sources, even Linus, suggest around 6 months for the 4000 line. Only a handful mention July. I’m open to waiting until August but not before February.
