Choosing a k series on an unsupported board is a significant waste of funds. Both options can function, but cooling differences mean skipping the k series CPU unless you upgrade later. You likely won’t need a next-gen 11th series i5, and a 5600G could be a better value if you're lucky.
The K series is £20 cheaper than the non-K model, making it a good choice. I need an Intel CPU for my setup since I want to reuse the AIO cooler without extra brackets. For about £210, I can find an 11400, but I'm unsure if it's worth the extra cost—performance seems similar and the 10600k is £175.

I recommend choosing a Z board. Your i7 8086k is a 5GHz, six-core processor that performs similarly to a 10600K. With a GTX 1080 Ti it worked just fine as stock, but once you added the RTX 2080 it became necessary to boost both the clock speed and all cores to avoid underutilization. A Z board will keep you ahead for future GPU upgrades, while without it you’ll face the same limitations again.
