I tried to push my new 10600k hard today and here are the results. My cooler is a corsair h100x 240 liquid aio mb. My memory is gigabyte vision g ram vengeance 16gb 3600 cl18 with xmp turned on running at full speed. My power supply is antec hcg gold 850w so the multiplier is set to 50 and voltage auto around 1.41 but it's unstable, as soon as i start wd2 i get a bsod multiplier set to 50 and voltage manual - 1.36 still unstable crashes on wd2 launch multiplier set to 49 and voltage auto around 1.4 or 1.39 i dont really remember still unstable now the multiplier is at 45 with voltage set to auto just so i could get a basic stable overclock system is now stable cpu is not thermal throttling or something and the psu is brand new didnt have any problems with it in my old 3550 build and i was running a 4ghz overclock
Yes, I get it...I have an MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio and in some games that card gets very hot even though my fans work really well. Personally I think you should put the AIO fan on top of your PC case but make sure there is fresh air coming from the front. Having a fan in front is good for the CPU but it stops air from getting to the graphics cards and makes them hotter. Sadly, that 690 II only has one small fan sticking out from the front and a lot of little cages around it that keep things stuck. If you can get an all-air flow case like the Fractal Meshify or something great like the Lian Li Lancool II it would save your GPU temps for sure! Okay this feels weird because I have the same setup before. First of all, how hot are your CPU temperatures in a Cinebench R20 test? Then head back to BIOS and load up all your default settings. Power off and restart. After that go into BIOS again and change these numbers: CPU Base Clock set to 100.00 MHz, CPU Clock Ratio set to 50, Enhanced Multi-Core set to Disabled, XMP Profile set to Disabled, vCore Loadline at High set to Fixed at 1.300V. Save your changes and restart the computer. If you are inside Windows, run the HardwareInfo program on the latest version and tell me what Vcore value shows up. Also check the VRAM temperature during a Cinebench R20 test if it is stable; please share those numbers with me.
I tried 50 mults and then fired up wd2, which crashed the sec. I launched the game... so c20 will prob also crash but ill try maybe its something to do with the motherboards bios or something? i didnt install anything except the lan driver so maybe its because of that?
Yeah, make sure you've installed all the motherboard drives and is this a fresh Windows 10 install? It's always better to start on a new piece of hardware so you don't get stuck. Also check if there are any recent BIOS updates happening. What are your temps when things run normal? Checking stock speeds like C20 will help show us if the AIO cooling is working well and rule out overheating issues. You should probably be able to do 5GHz at around 1.3v or a little higher depending on how good your silicon is. My 10700K can easily hit 5.1GHz at that voltage, but I think it's just related to your current setup.
Just ask because the part is called "new." If you put up a fresh copy of Windows 10 on that old computer and then buy your new motherboard or card right after installing it, don't reinstall Windows. That might cause problems later.
A month back, I switched from an old GTX 650 to a fresh card but my CPU stayed at the old i5-3550. Now, I've swapped that same i5-3550 for a brand new one called a 10600k.
