1060 to 5070 — CS2 appears less stable even with better frame rates
Recently upgraded from a GTX 1060 6GB to an RTX 5070, anticipating a significant performance increase in CS2. Although the raw FPS numbers improved, the game now feels quite poor. Input response is much slower than before. Everything seems sluggish and delayed, as if I’m stuck at 60Hz, even though my monitor runs at 180Hz and all configurations are verified in Control Panel and Windows. There aren’t any clear FPS reductions, but the movement appears distorted and inconsistent compared to my previous experience with the 1060, where V-Sync + G-Sync + Reflex limited my FPS to 171 and provided a smooth feel. Now, none of these adjustments make a difference — my FPS still climbs rapidly without any smoothness. Other games I tested worked as expected, offering a clear performance gain. Additionally, the 4:3 scaling looks much more blurry now, using the same settings as before with the 1060. I’ve reinstalled drivers via DDU, modified in-game settings multiple times, updated my BIOS, removed MSI Afterburner, and turned off all overlays. I’m aware Valve prioritizes optimization alongside anti-cheat, but from the benchmarks I’ve observed, comparable systems run the game smoothly. Anyone else encounter this issue after a GPU upgrade? My system specs: Gigabyte B760M GAMING X AX, 12400F, 16GB DDR5 6000MHz CL40, Gigabyte P650G. All temperatures and power usage were tracked — no thermal throttling detected. The CPU reaches a maximum of 60°C, while the GPU stays around 54°C. In CS2, the GPU draws about 104W at full load, and the CPU around 56W.
It seems like the game might have unusual configuration options—checking Vsync, Gsync, and PhysX support could help. If the issue persists, it might be a game-specific problem rather than a hardware or driver issue. The Nvidia app is installed, but there could be settings or bugs affecting performance.
