It seems to be a powerful processor. Its performance is heavily influenced by your graphics card when playing games. Regardless of the GPU or game, you're likely able to keep a browser window open alongside the game. You currently have an R3 2200G with an X570 8GB RAM and two 8GB modules at 3000MHz, which offers four cores similar to the i3. Now you're looking to upgrade to a powerful CPU in the budget range. The I3 10100F is still a solid processor and could be a good option for at least two to three years.

The i3-10100 works fine for basic use but has some drawbacks: 1. Cache size is quite low at just 6MB. Performance gains from increasing core count aren't coming mainly from the cores themselves, but from the extra cache. The i9-10900k outperforms other CPUs in this stack even when you limit cores and frequency because of its cache. 2. You’ll need a compatible motherboard; consider an upgrade path if possible. A 5600X would be a significant step forward and nearly as expensive as the 10100 plus a new board.
I own an A320M HDV R3.0 board that performs poorly, especially with Ryzen 3 processors. If I upgrade to a Ryzen 5 CPU, I’ll also need a compatible board.

Not accurate. Even simple A320 aircraft can run Ryzen 5 3600, which outperforms the 10100F or 3300X that typically match its capabilities.
It's not that bad. It might handle a 3600, though I'm not sure about top speed. The board you mentioned can support up to 105W CPUs, so the 65W from the 3600 should be okay. You can decide later if you need a different motherboard. Edit: The 2200G and 3700X are both 65W CPUs, so it's hard to say for sure.
