I recently purchased an xfx 6950xt to enhance my setup but upon installation the system failed to boot. After following standard troubleshooting steps and suspecting a GPU issue, I tested it on another machine where it worked perfectly. This made me think the motherboard might be faulty. When I switched to a Corsair RM1000x from my own PC, it also wouldn’t boot. It seems the power supply might be defective or there could be another factor at play.

It seems like you're questioning whether you're using the correct cables for your power supply unit.

The name you gave doesn't really convey the intended meaning because GPUs don't immediately operate at full power upon startup.

The 6950XT functions well with my Seasonic Prime PX 850W, SAMA Armor Gold 750W, and even starts up on my Evga G3 550W. When using Prime95+Furmark with monitors and other gear, the setup draws a maximum of 740W from the wall, indicating the PSU handles around 600W under load.

The power supply is around two years old, and I've experimented with various cables that came with it.

It doesn't seem logical to you as well.

I submitted a request to corsair, but I've been waiting a while for a response, just thought I'd see if I could still get it working as it works with lower power gpus (eg: 1080ti)
