What's suitable for a 5GHz OC i7 7700k under full load? Currently, during Cinebench the temperatures reach 85°C to 90°C. At idle it stays at 40°C without the cooler actively cooling. The NH-D15 cooler is in use.

Welcome to the team on behalf of Tom's Moderator Team!
90°C is too high.
Q
: What is your ambient temperature?
Core temperatures are influenced by the surrounding environment.
The standard operating range for Core temperature is:
85°C – Hot
80°C – Hot
75°C – Warm
70°C – Warm
65°C – Normal
55°C – Normal
45°C – Cool
30°C – Cool
25°C – Cold
Core temperatures exceeding 85°C are not advised.
Q
: What is your Core voltage during Cinebench? Are you using Auto or Manual / Adaptive settings?

Could be the temperature limit for the cooler. What voltage is needed for the CPU? Adjust for maximum stability and the smallest possible voltage. Are all fans correctly installed and are the PWM settings active?
