100 megabits per second on a 1 gigabit plan for Wi-Fi
I recently secured a 1 gig speed plan with Verizon. I have three working Google Wi-Fi hotspots, one of which I store in my room for Ethernet connections to my computer. My current speeds are only about 110 Mbps download and upload. Someone can assist me with improving this? Thank you.
The distinction between small 'b' and large 'B' is significant. A 1Gbit link should handle around 110MBps. At 110Mbps, performance drops noticeably—expect a file to take 10–12 seconds versus over a minute at 110Mbps. You might also run a speed test; if it shows speeds well above 110Mbps, the issue likely stems from mixing up megabits and megabytes.
Which gadget is linked? Internet performance relies on both your network access point and the hardware components within your user devices.
Also check if you're switching between Wi-Fi boosters. Do you connect directly from the extender to the modem, or does it need to pass through a couple of them? Hopping can cause latency and bandwidth drops, so using either 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands might help.
