10 W10, 8.1 or Linux?
Hi there, I’d like to share my thoughts on the differences between W10, W8.1, and Linux. I’m especially worried about privacy with W10—there are rumors about hidden data collection even when it’s turned off. Regarding clutter, W10 seems to have more unnecessary features compared to W8.1, which might feel overwhelming. As someone new to Linux with about three months of experience, the learning curve could be steep, but it offers great customization and privacy benefits. CAD and torrent usage are handled well on Linux, and I appreciate the focus on a cleaner environment. Overall, if privacy and control matter most, Linux seems like a solid choice despite the initial learning effort.
For W10 without tracking or Cortana, you can try Windows LTS Enterprise. I might prefer Linux for myself. Check Fedora—it offers more customization and better security.
W10 generally outperforms w8.1 in every aspect. The privacy issues are the main drawback, though many of the biggest problems can be easily turned off. If you're comfortable with Linux, it's a solid choice since most needed software is available. You can customize it for maximum security, but it may also become more complex, requiring frequent terminal use and searching forums for assistance.
Linux offers greater personalization options, though it demands more initial effort to master. It uses less processing power compared to Windows, yet supports fewer applications. The system gathers minimal user information and includes fewer unnecessary programs or background tasks.
I’d choose windows right now since it offers the strongest software support and performs well for gaming at the moment.
It's not that well known about Windows anymore. Understanding its features is similar to learning Linux, but generally they're comparable. However, Linux tends to run faster due to its efficient code execution method. He mentioned he doesn't play games.
Linux is the best choice for security and stability. You'll avoid viruses and unnecessary updates. If you prefer something simpler, Windows 10 is a good option—it's cleaner and less monitored. Both have many Windows features without the clutter or hidden software.
If your software supports Linux, I’d choose that path. I own Fedora on an older laptop (the Cinnamon 'spin') and it works well. If Adobe offered Linux versions, I’d use them regularly. When I get a new M.2 drive, I plan to dual boot between W10 and Fedora. A dual-boot setup could be ideal for the Hannah Montana vibe.
