Consider using a USB drive instead of a case. A USB to SATA adapter paired with a case should cost similar amounts.

I rely on it regularly with a powered hub, even when using bare drives in a basic adapter. A solid-state drive would be superior. HDDs are okay since I have several and they’re more affordable, but an SSD offers better performance.
