I recently replaced my motherboard, CPU, and RAM—all secondhand. My current setup looks like this: CPU is an i5 14700KF, GPU is RTX 4060, RAM is 32 GB at 6000MHz, PSU is 750W, and the motherboard is a B760M Aorus Elite AX. My PC often shows a blue screen or restarts unexpectedly, especially after a few minutes of gaming, though it can happen while doing other tasks too. I've tried updating the BIOS, reseating the CPU, and changing the RAM positions—placing one stick in the first slot, another in the third, and so on. Both sticks work, but I just need to use one at a time.
Specific details about the RAM and PSU. Have you noticed the second-hand components all functioning properly?
So far what you've done seems like most of my advice. Have you checked the socket for bent pins, even though they're tiny? I think the CPU pads should be clean—no thermal paste or oxidation. It's likely the RAM channel failed either on the CPU or motherboard, but fixing those can be expensive if you don't have another board or chip to test. There might be another cause for the instability; the 14700k usually doesn’t have the same problems as i7/i9, so I’m not sure. What memory settings are you using? You could try lowering the memory speed if your controller is weak to regain stability.
Corsair Vengeance 32GB, cmh32gx5m2b6000c30 — a memory module from my motherboard level A. It’s a support RAM, not sure if I’m mixing up the specs. It functions fine alone except when trying to use both at once.
I’m using standard memory configurations except for XMP which is active. It’s hard to tell if the pins are bent, though one near the top left appears to reflect light differently—possibly indicating a bend. The pads on the CPU seem confusing because there’s thermal paste on the PSU where it shouldn’t be. I’m unsure about safely removing that paste.
