0xc000428 about installing Windows on a new PC for Windows 11.
I also experienced an fTMP error and resolved it using a BIOS CMOS reset. Following that, I attempted to install Windows 11 on the new machine but consistently encountered 0xc000428 error codes. Nothing appears to be functioning properly, and I’m uncertain about the cause. The system reports all components as verified in the BIOS, yet it refuses to boot. After about five minutes, the computer powers off if no one interacts with it.
I’ve tried:
- A fresh Windows installation
- Installing two different USB drives (USB 1, USB 2)
- Installing Windows 10 (initially a blue screen with black lines before shutdown)
- Using BIOS to enable boot override (same issue persists)
Anyone have insights on what might be wrong?

Ensure no graphics card is connected to the system. Rely on integrated graphics while installing Windows. Operate with a single RAM module. Perform a clean OS drive during installation using DiskPart's clean command, which will erase all data from the drive.
the clear_cmos isn’t functioning properly with the screwdriver, i resolved it previously in a similar manner
If it won't post then verify the following...
Ensure all cables are correctly attached to the motherboard and power supply.
Confirm all additional cables (USB, SATA, etc.) are securely connected at both ends.
Take out the RAM cards and reinsert them fully. Also refer to your motherboard manual to confirm they're in the right slots.
Disconnect all PCIe cards and reattach them completely. Make sure any additional power connectors to PCIe cards are fully linked at both ends.
Observe the four LEDs on the motherboard during startup. Which one remains lit?
Listen for any beep codes when booting? If present, note how many and their duration.
FWIW the 0xC000428 exception is an invalid image hash – this suggests a possible issue with the installation media drive or the USB port...
