It seems the concept of being "immune to viruses" across most platforms should fade away. The low uptake on Linux and even slightly lower on Mac compared to Windows makes it less compelling, which in turn discourages people from seeking out problems.

Open your browser in a VM with a live CD. Use wget to fetch the files and convert them into another format before playback.

Unique approach to growth and sharing. This update wouldn’t have reached me without joining numerous Linux communities and alumni networks from a reputable school. I believe Microsoft releases information slowly, while Apple updates are often hidden behind marketing hype.

This approach enables both stopping issues and applying fixes. It also helps avoid unnecessary hype about security flaws, which is a big advantage. Even though nothing is completely safe, understanding the risks and addressing them without major disruptions is valuable. Perhaps it's just my perspective, but it seems Linux has seen more bug reports recently—could be due to increased attention from the press. I don’t follow every news story, so I might be misunderstanding.

It's puzzling that some believe exploiting a Linux system remains fresh. I recall those early Linux days in the 90s, when the "Linux is still new" story was common. At least the "L1n0x iz sec00r" angle is finally ending. No more casual banter.

The vulnerability only changes the permissions the same way your account is set, without granting root privileges. It still lets them reach files on the home drive.
