You're thinking about upgrading your old computer for better performance. Since your current setup is around 10 years old, a newer RAM upgrade can help with gaming and light CAD work.

For your options:
- 32GB (two 16GB modules) at 3200MHz CL16 is a solid choice.
- 8GB (two 4GB modules) at 3600MHz CL16 offers more capacity but may feel slower for heavy tasks.

Both are similar in price, so it depends on how much space you need now.

Regarding the difference between G.Skill Trident Z and Trident Neo:
It’s mainly about the heatspreader design. The Trident Neo has a better cooling system, which can help with longer sessions and more demanding tasks. But for casual gaming and light work, the difference is usually small.

When prices match, extra memory offers better value over time.

16GB DDR4-3600 CL16 specifications suit your needs. If the Ryzen 5000 line mirrors the 3000 series, Infinity Fabric operates at a 1:1 ratio with DRAM up to 1800 MHz (around 3600 MHz). The main differences between Trident Z and Trident Neo are the heatspreader and RGB design updates.

It's your choice. Want more power? Go for it. If not, opt for the quicker setup. If you enjoy customizing and fine-tuning RAM speeds, choosing a higher-end model could push you to around 3600MHz or even 3800MHz.

I’d opt for a 32GB version. I wouldn’t wait to see what AMD delivers, but I’m pretty confident they’ll exceed expectations. Just keep in mind the risk of mistakes—especially with early 3080 card samples.
