I just put the i7 7700k into my ASUS Rogo Maximus VIII motherboard and it won't overclock. It also only recognizes up to 8 GB of RAM, unlike my old i5 6600K which worked fine with all 16 GB.

From the ROG forum discussion, BIOS 3007 will enable the CPU directly, though overclocking may not be possible at this time. It's possible the next BIOS update will address this. I could contact ASUS to check their plans for a future release.

Have you made an upgrade to a more recent BIOS version that ensures full compatibility with the 7700?

Have you made the BIOS the latest release? It seems ASUS likely released an update for Kaby Lake already.

From the ROG forum discussion, BIOS 3007 is expected to allow the CPU to run directly, though overclocking may not be possible at this time. You may need to wait for a future BIOS release. I could reach out to ASUS to check if they intend to update soon.

The newest BIOS is still in beta, and I'm confident it will be stable once a final version is released.
