Hello everyone, welcome back. I'm a bit confused about this technical issue, especially for someone new to Linux. It's my fifth gaming build, and after days of testing, I'm stuck with a bunch of problems. After two weeks of successful sessions, I keep facing crashes—no blue screen or warnings, just power failures and endless loops. Sometimes Windows stays on for 5 or 10 minutes before the loop repeats, and the BIOS won't load at all.
I tried clearing the CMOS, resetting any settings, and checking everything. The HWINFO says everything looks fine. I used a different DDR stick in another slot, checked all connections, and reinserted it. Now things get strange again. Both Gigabyte and Intel say you need a second CPU power lead for the i9-900K or similar components to work. But after weeks without issues, switching to multiple rails on the Corsair HX850 worked perfectly.
I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem or has any advice. Do you think this is something I should be aware of?
What power supply were you using before? I understand you switched from single-rail to multi-rail. That seems unusual... I can imagine how that might cause issues when it's the opposite setup. Running the PC on multi-rail for a while to check stability, then switching back to single-rail, could reveal if crashes return. If crashes do occur, it’s likely you’ll need to return the product for replacement, which shouldn’t impact stability.
Updates indicate everything has been restored to its original state at the time of the issue, except for one point. The Gigabytes RGB FUSION program was reinstalled, which removed the Sysdump files from the program directory—an apparent online solution to prevent Fusion from accessing memory. This didn’t resolve the problem because it caused conflicts and required frequent ICUE settings refreshes after each reboot. I uninstalled it again, and now the system runs smoothly. The interaction between Fusion and ICUE remains unstable, and similar issues have been reported on other systems. I’m currently dealing with a £250 motherboard that has orange lights while running a full RGB setup.
