Hello, I’m sharing my first post on the forum. Sorry if it doesn’t fit the right section—I’m still getting used to it. I’m a beginner here (and sometimes my writing isn’t perfect because I’m French). My setup is an MSI B360M with 4x4Go, Corsair Vengeance LPX at 2666MHz, and an Intel i5 9400F in a micro ATX case. The case has a closed front panel, so I drilled holes every cm for better cooling.
Right now I’m thinking about upgrading. I want something better but I’m not rich enough to buy everything right away. My idea is to upgrade the case first to a Corsair 4000D for better airflow, then replace the motherboard with an MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk and an Intel Z490 (because I really like their BIOS). I’d also consider moving to an Intel Core i5-10400F.
You might be wondering why I’m just explaining my situation. My main question is: should I go ahead with these upgrades, or should I stick with what I have? Also, I wasn’t thinking about switching to AMD right now. Do you have any tips or suggestions for improving this build? Thanks a lot!
I aim for a score above 11,400. The variation is clear. There are plenty of options in the used market. What are you aiming for? If higher FPS is your priority, it’s likely your performance is limited by the GPU rather than the CPU. Welcome to the discussion.
Thanks, I'll remember the 11400F. It's not about chasing higher FPS; some tasks really drain the CPU, so I usually run at around 120 FPS for Valorant—my "minimum" setting—but sometimes it crashes unexpectedly. Since it's using a lot of resources, upgrading my CPU would be a good move. Plus, knowing I'm not stuck in a lower generation feels great!
