My laptop stops working whenever I try something demanding. After rebooting it right away, it won’t open and takes about two minutes to launch. I’ve updated the drivers and switched chargers. My Windows is uninstalled using Talon, and I own a second-hand machine. I just dusted it a bit earlier today after the problem started when I played a 2D game. I think the heat isn’t the cause since it was much warmer before (around 80°C) and now it’s cooler (60-65°C). I can’t play any games at all, even simple ones; they crash instantly. I checked the event viewer and system logs, but there are many errors reported. My friend didn’t know what to do either. I don’t understand why this happens during the day before everything went wrong. Unknowingly, I fell asleep while it was charging and still running, which put it into sleep mode. When I opened it, uploading videos to Discord, and trying Roblox with friends, it shut down without warning—except the whole PC slows down quickly after about 20 seconds before it crashes. If you need more details, just ask but I’m not sure what’s going on. I just want to play with my friends.
It seems the cooling system is underperforming or the fins are obstructed with debris. (Fans aren’t strong enough to create significant static pressure.) You may need to swap out the entire heatsink or at least the fan if simple cleaning isn’t fixing the temperature problems.
It doesn’t seem to be the problem at all. It worked perfectly yesterday and wasn’t an issue before. I also cleaned the fans and the inside of my laptop earlier today, which makes me think it might not be the fans either. As for the heatsink, I’m not sure what it’s supposed to do.
