Hello, I understand you're facing some challenges during the Windows 10 installation. The error message you're seeing—related to a file system operation and an error code—can be confusing. Have you tried checking your system files or running a disk check after the installation attempts? Also, ensure your antivirus and firewall are not interfering with the installation process. If the issue persists, consider seeking further assistance from Microsoft support or a trusted tech forum.

I would safeguard your information, and then simply restore using a brand-new Windows 10 installation disc. That same method can create a ready-to-use Windows 10 installation media.

I'm new to this process... I just needed an upgrade since I only have a Windows 7 Pro key. I don't own a Windows 10 Pro license, and installing Windows 10 on a Key would require that product key. I've never worked with a Windows 10 key before. Does creating the key wipe all my system data, similar to removing Windows 7 completely and replacing it with an external drive? Also, will backing up another external drive restore everything from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on the new OS?

Activation of Windows 10 requires a legitimate Win7 key. When generating the USB installation file, the drive will be cleared—use a blank one for this process.

Let me know what you mean by "recover the files"—are you trying to restore them after a loss or need guidance on accessing them from your backup?

First consider removing antivirus and similar software. They might block system upgrades.

You've tried before but it's not working anymore. Please let me know what you're trying to do again.
