So for context. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, RTX 3060 GPU, 16gb of 3200 RAM, and a somewhat slow Samsung SATA SSD. I have been playing games on this PC and I feel like its underperforming. In VALORANT, which is the game I play the most, I get around 150 FPS on 1080p resolution and low settings. I do play on windowed fullscreen, but even when I switch to fullscreen there is no real change in FPS. I have updated everything I could, drivers and software. I don't know what else I can change in order to get more FPS. I was thinking of buying 3dMark because UserBenchMark is not so reliable anymore (and not free), and check if my PC is underperforming somewhere. I wanted to know if anyone had a better idea of what I could do or if maybe I am also in the wrong thinking that a game like VALORANT should be getting more FPS with my build. Thank you for any comments!!!
You can get a complimentary "basic" edition of 3DMark at the following link: https://www.guru3d.com/download/3dmark-download/
I wasn't aware of this before! I'll look it up for you. Thank you!
I'm feeling frustrated because I haven't identified the problem. I'll attempt this again next time I play. That might resolve things.
I checked the RAM speed in Task Manager. It seems the 3600 non-X is limiting performance. How much CPU usage are you experiencing in games?
Based on my observations, these multiplayer games often face restrictions due to memory latency on Ryzen processors. It seems the OP might not notice any single core performing near 100%, yet overall it remains constrained by CPU limitations.
It seems a bit unusual. I'd make sure RAM operates at its peak speed and if it's dual-channel. Otherwise, I'm not sure—I'd look for benchmarks with a similar setup to compare. I keep the game in fullscreen since it usually performs better and reduces input lag.
Are you checking the newest MB update? Some older boards struggled with early firmware.
