My Corsair H100iv2 recently had a catastrophic failure (Pump made a pop and temps started rising at idle). I immediately pulled the plug and ordered a replacement. I got an EK AiO and installed it but I low and behold it doesn't post. I messed around with my RAM sticks, cleared CMOS, etc etc. Then I took the cmos battery out, waited an hour, put it back, flipped my power supply switch AND smoke....It took my motherboard. I do not fucking know why. Got a new one and it turns on (Not the PSU so yay. FYI I even tried a different PSU that is known to be working. Same error) It posted ONCE with ONLY ONE STICK in and now it will no longer post with any config and I'm getting a 55 post code. Several restarts at 4C then a restart. This is a new motherboard and I'm terrified I'm going to have to shill. I ran everything stock. No overclock. Plenty of wattage overhead. Does anyone have any ideas? I will answer any and all questions.
Hey there! Are there any leaks from the AIO onto the motherboard or into the power supply? Particularly if the PSU cover has a grill and the fan is facing up. Also, could you share your full system specs? If you do, it might have caused the PSU to fail and then the motherboard to stop working when you tried to boot.
No liquid escaped. The motor produced grinding sounds before a sudden pop, similar to something being forced into a car fan. System details: i9 9900k Gigabyte Aorus Master z390 (previously featured Pro Wifi) EVGA 3080ti XC3 with a bespoke 3D printer fan cover (old fans made loud grinding noises, so I modified the wiring) 850w EVGA power supply Now equipped with an EK 360mm AiO 64gb SSD at 3600MHz Corsair Vengeance DDR4 (four 16GB modules)
Have you checked every RAM stick in the second slot from the CPU socket? A Code 55 on the motherboard indicates a memory initialization problem. Verify that all RAM is properly inserted. It could be a faulty stick or a fault in the CPU memory controller, suggesting you should replace the CPU and motherboard since continuing with an outdated unit isn't cost-effective.
I've tested all the available options. I used every setting and arrangement. They were sent to another machine with an operating system that identified them right away. The issue was with the memory controller being faulty.
Another possibility is that the BIOS on the motherboard doesn't recognize the 9900K, requiring a BIOS update. If it's already current—especially for a Z390 which usually supports older CPUs—it might be the hardware issue.
Bios was version F12o, a custom build from the Overclocking forum featuring the quickest microcode for Gigabyte. I’m pretty sure it’s the CPU issue now, and I’m really frustrated because I have no idea what went wrong.
