You're missing a bootable storage option with the Dell Poweredge R630. Check your setup!
I recently purchased a Dell PowerEdge R630 1U with four 2TB hard drives. I’m having trouble booting from my USB drive and can’t figure out why. I’ve been watching Cloud Ninjas tutorials on the R630, but I’m stuck during the boot process. I’m using a 2016 Windows ISO file as shown in the videos, which detects the OS on the USB but doesn’t allow file transfers. I’m new to home lab setups and wanted to test a home server. I’ve attached photos of the server in case you need help identifying any missing parts or steps.
You have a RAID card installed. Have you configured any virtual drives? (Or placed it in HBA mode so the drives are simply routed through rather than functioning as a RAID controller.)
I tried connecting virtual media earlier to see if it would help pull the OS off my computer, but this time it didn’t work. For HBA mode, I’m still facing issues and keep seeing that error message. I also attached a screenshot of the screen showing the options on the ISO file I have. The available choices look confusing for me.
I’m pretty sure my drive drivers are current. They indicate they’re utilizing NS02.
I realized I needed to set up my drives as individual units instead of a RAID configuration.
